Saving = price × discount ÷ 100; sale price = price − saving

Worked example

Original price: 120; Discount (%): 25.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add two discount percentages together?

Usually not. Sequential discounts apply to different bases: 20% off followed by 10% off gives 28% off overall, not 30%.

Does this add sales tax?

No. Apply the relevant tax separately to the appropriate taxable amount.
