The result is the requested share of the original number. A rate of 15% means 15 out of every 100, so 15% of 240 is 36.

Divide the part by the total and multiply by 100. For example, 36 ÷ 240 × 100 = 15%. This tool performs the reverse operation: it finds the part from the rate and total.
Yes. A rate of 150% means one and a half times the original quantity. A percentage greater than 100 is not automatically an error.
