Trace the perimeter around the two shorter sides, then add the longest side once. Concept diagram; not to scale.

Calculate a rectangular parcel’s girth and length-plus-girth measurement.

Box girth = 2*(width+height) cm
Length plus girth = length+2*(width+height) cm
Box volume = length*width*height cm³

Worked example

  • Longest side (cm): 50
  • Second side (cm): 30
  • Third side (cm): 20
  • Box girth: 100 cm
  • Length plus girth: 150 cm
  • Box volume: 30,000 cm³

Assumptions and limits

The length must be the longest measured outside side. Carrier rules, rounding, bulges and service limits differ; this is geometry, not a shipping acceptance guarantee.

Results are rounded for display; calculations use unrounded values. Read our calculation methodology.

Frequently asked questions

What assumptions should I check?

The length must be the longest measured outside side. Carrier rules, rounding, bulges and service limits differ; this is geometry, not a shipping acceptance guarantee.

How can I check the result?

Start with the labelled example. Keep units consistent, calculate without intermediate rounding and change one input at a time. The diagram explains the model; the result table supplies the numerical answer.
