Silver price per gram from a troy ounce quote
Convert a silver spot quote into a per-gram metal estimate and keep purity, fees and currency separate.
Use the correct ounce
Precious-metal spot prices are commonly quoted per troy ounce. One troy ounce is about 31.1034768 grams; it is not the 28.3495-gram avoirdupois ounce used for many everyday weights. If a quote is 31.10 per troy ounce, pure silver is roughly 1.00 per gram before rounding.
Apply fineness and weight
Estimated pure-silver content = item mass × fineness fraction. For 100 g of 925 silver, that is 92.5 g of silver. At 1.00 per gram, theoretical contained-metal value is 92.50. This is a metal-content estimate, not a jewelry sale price or dealer buyback offer.
Keep costs explicit
Check whether a quote is in your currency and whether it is current. Dealer spreads, taxes, workmanship, stones, condition and minimum purchase size can matter more than small rounding differences. Use the metal calculator with your own quoted price when you need a specific scenario.
